A WORD FROM OUR FOUNDER
My name is Daniel Bocancea.
I first came to the UK from Romania in 2005, while I was still studying Business and Economics. After graduating, I decided to make the UK my home and build my future here.
Like many people starting again in a new country, I started from the bottom. I began working on construction sites, helping where I could, watching how things were done and taking every opportunity to learn from the people around me.
I was always curious. I didn’t just want to do the job I was given. I wanted to understand what the other trades were doing, why they were doing it that way and how everything fitted together.

Over time, I gained practical experience across different trades and started to understand construction as a whole. I realised that if I wanted to progress, I needed to develop my knowledge further and become better at what I was doing.
One opportunity led to another. I took on more responsibility, started supervising people and eventually moved into site and project management, working on increasingly complex residential projects.
Looking back, starting from the ground up was one of the most valuable parts of my journey. It allowed me to experience construction from different perspectives: first as someone doing the work, then as someone responsible for the people and the project, and eventually as a business owner.
THE EXPERIENCE THAT STAYED WITH ME
One site taught me what good looks like.
One of my earliest experiences on site shaped the way I still think about construction today.
Every morning, before anyone picked up a tool, the site manager brought the team together. He explained what we were doing that day, made sure everyone understood their responsibilities and talked through how the work would be carried out safely.
My English wasn’t very good at the time, so I didn’t understand every word. But I understood what mattered.
The site was organised. People communicated. Everyone knew what they were responsible for. There was a sense of calm and confidence because somebody was properly leading the project.
At the time, I thought this was simply how construction worked.
Later, I experienced the other side. I worked on sites where there was very little planning or communication. Problems were dealt with only after they happened. People were constantly reacting instead of thinking ahead, and that uncertainty affected everyone involved.
The difference stayed with me. I realised that having good tradespeople isn’t enough to deliver a successful project. You need good planning, clear communication, strong leadership and people who take responsibility. Above all, you need trust.
BUILDING DSB
One project naturally led to another.
As my experience grew, I started taking on projects of my own.
They were small at the beginning, but I approached every project in the same way: do what I said I would do, look after the client and deliver the work properly.
Clients began trusting me with more responsibility, projects became larger and I started bringing together tradespeople and professionals who shared the same standards. Small projects became full refurbishments. Refurbishments became extensions and more complex projects, eventually developing into the high-end residential refurbishments and new-build homes we deliver today.
In 2013, DSB Premier Construction was formally established.
I didn’t have a master plan for exactly where the journey would take me. I simply kept learning, taking opportunities and trying to become a little better every day. That approach has never really changed.
Having good tradespeople isn’t enough to deliver a successful project. You need planning, communication, leadership and people who take responsibility. Above all, you need trust.

Construction never stands still. Neither should the people leading it.
I have always believed that experience and education should go hand in hand. Alongside working on site, I have continued to invest in professional training and qualifications, studying subjects that include:

WHY DSB EXISTS
Most problems on a project are not technical.
After years in construction, I have learned that many of the biggest problems on a project aren’t caused by a lack of technical ability. They come from poor planning, poor communication and a lack of accountability.
When someone is investing in their home, they shouldn’t have to spend their time wondering what is happening, whether the programme is under control or whether the people responsible for their project are doing what they promised. They should feel confident that their project is in the right hands.
That belief has shaped the way we have built DSB. We plan carefully. We communicate openly. We take responsibility. And when challenges arise, because construction will always have challenges, we deal with them properly and keep moving forward.
Of course, the quality of the finished home matters enormously to me. But so does the experience our clients have while we are building it.
I want our clients to look back and be proud of what we created together, but also to remember that throughout the journey, they felt informed, looked after and confident in the people responsible for their home.
That, for me, is what Build With Certainty really means.

That philosophy became the DSB Certainty Build Method - a structured approach to planning, managing and delivering every project, designed to keep homeowners informed, in control and confident from the first meeting through to final handover.

Every value came from a real site.
None of this was written on a whiteboard before DSB existed. Every one of these values came from a site Daniel worked on.
The site where problems were hidden rather than owned, where people looked for someone to blame instead of a solution, is the reason Ownership exists. The site where every morning began with a proper briefing - calm, organised and professional - is the model behind Professionalism. And the promise Daniel made to himself that day, that trust is the real foundation of a good project, became Trust and Long-Term Relationships, and later the whole reason DSB exists.
No Compromise on Quality and Attention to Detail were built the same way - through years of learning trades properly rather than quickly, and studying long after most people would have stopped. The mission - homes designed for comfort, luxury and a lifetime of memories - is simply what these five values add up to when they are held to on every project, not just the ones that are easy.

I do not want DSB Premier Construction to be remembered only for the homes we have built. I want it to be remembered for how we made people feel throughout the journey.
If future generations of homeowners no longer expect poor communication, hidden surprises, delays and uncertainty as a normal part of construction, I believe we will have made a real contribution to our industry.
